The Committee

The band is run by committee, with elections at the end of every year. The current committee is:

Chair
Natalie Edwards

Natalie

I'm a third year Music student who plays piccolo/flute in the band, and is ALWAYS the one who gets herself lost/does something embarrassing whenever we go on tour! I'm really excited about Concert Band this year and am open to any suggestions you might have about ways we can improve the band, so if you've got something to say feel free to give me a shout!

Secretary
Amy Ruddlesden

Amy

Hi, I'm Amy, a third year chemist and have been in concert band since the beginning of my first year. I play bass clarinet in concert band, but am quite often seen with a different instrument in my hands! I've thoroughly enjoyed my time so far, particularly the band tours at Easter and hope this year will continue to be brilliant!

Treasurer
Timothy Alston

Tim

Heya everyone! I'm Timothy the band's treasurer, which means it is my job to embezzle your money! I've played the trombone for the band for the last three years and was previously the band's ordinary member. I'm currently a masters student in the economics department. I've loved playing with the band and especially going on tour! I would highly encourage everyone to get involved in the social side early on. Any questions? Email me on tma503.

Conductor
Chris Carrick

Chris

Chris is a third year Chemistry PhD student. He plays Alto sax and piano as well as singing. Chris views concert band as a great way to meet new people while playing a mix of challenging and enjoyable music. Chris's favourite music genre is musical theatre

Conductor
Charlotte Tobbitt

Charlotte

Charlotte is a second year music student from the Isle of Wight who plays clarinet, saxophone and piano.

Tour Managers
Alicia Oakes
Katie Seaborne

Lis & Katie

We are second year music students and play flute and tenor saxophone in the band. Concert tour to Paris last year was so much fun we decided to run for joint concert band managers this year!

Social Secretary
Alex Voss-Boyall

Alex

Hi, I'm Alex, the social secretary. My job is to organise nights out (and in), to ensure the band is one of friends, not merely people who play together! Socials are a great way to meet the other members of the band who you don't usually sit near. From bar crawls to a chilled night in with pizza and DVDs, and trips to the infamous Akbars curry house, there's a social for everyone! Myself, I play tuba in the band, and am a second year music student.

Webmaster
Rob Carruthers

Rob

Rob is an MA student in Music, specialising in contemporary classical guitar performance practice. Some might say he is still on the committee after being conductor last year purely so he can still fart around on baritone sax and come to committee meetings. Some might say he took up this position just so he could have the word 'master' in his title. Some might say it was just an opportunity to flaunt that fabulous Enchanted costume again.

But I guess we'll never know.

Ordinary Member

Ben

Hi! I'm Ben one of your Ordinary members. I'm a third year Mathematician but you will never catch me in lectures or doing any maths; I've managed to avoid it for the last two years and I don't plan on breaking a tradition this year! You'll most likely see me (you'll definitely hear me) in the Trombone section blasting out on my orange p-bone!

Ordinary Member
Louise Stott

Louise

Hi everyone, I'm Louise and I'm a second year history student. I really love being in Concert Band because of the fun and exciting music we play, and the friends that I made in my first year. For the autumn term I will be away on an exchange in America but I will be back to resume my Ordinary Member duties in the Spring. As one of the Ordinary Members I will be helping out with important matters such as the weekly biscuits and the band merchandise. I'm looking forward to the Concert Band 2012 tour already!
